Background:   In late 2003, Integrated Quality (IQ) introduced the US developed CMM-Manager software to the Chinese market. First, IQ provided software to Chinese CMM manufacturers. However, IQ later found that most of the OEM partner companies were engaged in developing their own software using CMM-Manager as an example. In 2004, Innovative Precision Technology was formed as a Sino-US joint venture in Kunshan China, near Shanghai. The goal of the joint venture is to design and manufacturer a line of new CMMs in order to stay competitive in the Chinese market. With the financial and technical support from IQ, the first new machine (an Insight 8106 DCC CMM) was successfully delivered to a customer in Suzhou, China in spring of 2005. Ever since then, several hundred new CMMs have been built and delivered to customers in the greater China region as well as South Korea, Indonesia and other southeast Asian countries.
